Koffee Scores Big With Title Track On The Harder They Fall Soundtrack
From Spanish Town Jamaica, young , consistent, beautiful and black, she's scorchingly blazing with amazing musical tracks, a Grammy Award-winning singer yeah a Koffee me a chat... now added to her growing list of accomplishments, a major movie soundtrack, The Harder They Fall, people so excited fe go watch... There is more to this story so nuh badda ignore me, Poetic News Jamaica will be right back.
Welcome back to my channel, GreatAmaziyah if you haven't subscribed yet, nuh badda forget, please dweet now and hit that notification bell.
Reading from the website of Dancehall Mag, me see seh big things a gwaan fe dis adorable Jamaican, Koffee you always bring such an amazing vibration... The people of this great land and yours truly Amaziyah The Great One, saying congratulations.
Koffee joins her compatriot Barrington Levy as Reggae/Dancehall stars, whose voices will be featured on the soundtrack for the action/adventure all-black Western film The Harder they Fall, which stars Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Idris Elba, Regina King, LaKeith Stanfield and Delroy Lindo, and others. Levy’s Here I Come hit track from his 1985 album of the same name, was remixed to feature in the film, his voice dominant in its trailer which was disseminated a few months ago. The remixed song has since been released on streaming platforms.
In a Tweet yesterday, Koffee teased a 30-second clip of her original title track, The Harder They Fall, produced by Jeymes Samuel. The full soundtrack, which will reportedly also feature Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Lauryn Hill, and others, which by now should be out by now.
The title of the film appears to take from the film 1956 The Harder They Fall, which was an adaptation of the 1947 Budd Schulberg novel of the same name. The director never said that still enuh, so that's just assumption, so nuh badda go say me or DancehallMag did say, but it might also have been influenced by the 1972 Perry Henzell-directed film The Harder They Come which starred Reggae icon Jimmy Cliff and the hit song of the same name which was also recorded by Cliff in 1972.
Netflix summarises the film as surrounding an outlaw bearing the name Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) who is “gunning for revenge”, saddling up “with his gang to take down enemy Rufus Buck, a ruthless crime boss who just got sprung from prison”.
The various reviews of the film by critics have been coming in over the last few days. The Guardian described it as an enjoyable, “face-splatteringly brutal, gonzo revenge western… which aims to reclaim the often erased African American side of this genre and history” featuring the gun-toting gangsters of the old west wearing old-timey hats of all shapes and sizes”, while the Chicago Sun Times called it a “dusty 19th century gangland where men brawl and women do, too”.
As for the BBC, it described the Western, as opening with an intriguing disclaimer (that): “While the events in this film are fictionalised… These. People. Existed.”
“Without it, viewers might assume the movie is an imaginary tale, one of several cases of Hollywood re-casting historical periods and events with more ethnic minority characters than there were in reality… Except in this case, the opposite is true. A large number of cowboys were black, and yet traditionally the film industry has cast white men in the leading parts of Westerns, with black actors generally in deferential roles,” the BBC noted.
The $90 million budget film is out now in theaters and will be available on Netflix on November 3.
Koffee’s hit song Toast was previously featured in Jordan Peele’s horror film Us (2019) and more recently in the Netflix thriller Fatale (2020). Throne, which also appeared on her Grammy-winning Rapture EP, was used on the soundtrack for the film Rocks (2020).
The new developments come ahead of the release of Koffee’s first full-length album via RCA Records which is set for 2022.
The Spanish Town native recently released visuals for the first single titled West Indies, which is her first release in a year, the previous being the Pressure (remix) with Buju Banton in October 2020.
Her 2020 summer banger Lockdown, had created history, surpassing one million streams on YouTube within two days. It had also debuted at the top of the global iTunes reggae chart and the Jamaican YouTube charts and shot to number on in more than six countries on Apple Music.
In February this year, the Spanish town native had said she was coming with “something new and unexpected” for those familiar with her music and that she wanted to promulgate unity in her upcoming body of work.
“It will be a very interesting twist for people who knew my music before, and also for people who will discover me. I think it will be really awesome,” the Ardenne High School graduate had said.

3 Month Exhibition for Gregory Isaacs in The UK
Inna Jamaica, we celebrate Black History Month in February, but in the United Kingdom, it's celebrated in October, now as of tomorrow, in North-West London, a place called Harrow where there's The Headstone Manor and Museum, there will be a three-month exhibition on The Cool Ruler himself, the ledenday Mr. Gregory Isaacs's his impact, on reggae music, worldwide... fans still can't refuse it.
Blessings and good day, whaagwaan? Welcome back to my channel, GreatAmaziyah. if you nuh subscribed yet, please dweet now and hit the notification bell. I am Amaziyah The Great with Poetic News Jamaica, me deh yah fe today fe talk about Issacs to go on showcase in the UK so mek me jump inna da story yah without further delay
The exhibition comences October 26 of this year and ends January 30, 2022.
June Isaacs, his widow, says she is super excited, quite delighted with the iconic and historic recognition... yes, she's happy wid dem decision.
“It's an honour to know that Gregory can be recognised during Black History Month. The people highlighted during this month are ones who shone in their respective fields. It is indeed a great honour,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
11 years ago today, Mr. Isaac passed away, in Harrow dem say cancer took his life away. The lovers' rock singer had a massive following in the UK. The house where he lived on 59 Weald Lane was honoured with a blue plaque in 2016. The symbolic blue plaque has been placed at homes of famous people in Britain since the late 19th century. Among them are Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, poet Lord Byron, and authors Charles Dickens and Robert Louis Stevenson.
June Isaacs also mentioned, the reggae singer's son, Gregory Isaacs Jr who resides in the UK and who is a director of the Gregory Isaacs Foundation, was the one contacted by the museum.
According to the museum's website, Gregory Isaacs was an icon.
Pon de website it reads... “We are celebrating a musical icon, the legendary Jamaican reggae singer Gregory “Cool Ruler” Isaacs, coinciding with his memorial day. We're delighted to be able to co-curate a small exhibition in our community cupboard within the Manor House and a digital exhibition,”
It will be the 11th anniversary of Gregory's passing, Mrs. Isaacs I am so sorry for your lossing... but the question I am asking, will Jamaiaca be honoring The Cool Ruler same way like how me see England endorsing? Well the truth is, some a dem will honor this, while some will be waggonist. It was also Due to C-19 restrictions, no activities are planned, but his widow, however, is hoping local radio stations will be promoting Isaacs's music to mark the day... yeah mon, play some Gregory Isaacs's songs all the way
She said her late husband's music is still relevant today.
“He recently got silver for the album Night Nurse. His music is long-lasting and everyone can relate to [it] — middle age, old age, young. With Night Nurse's silver certification, it shows it's the new generation that is discovering it now, so we have bridged the gap,” said Isaacs.
Night Nurse, the 1982 album by Isaacs, was recently certified silver in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry for sales exceeding 60,000 copies.
Recorded at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, the set features songs including the popular title track Stranger in Town, Cool Down the Place, Material Man, and Sad to Know (You're Leaving).
Born in Denham Town, west Kingston, on July 15, 1950, Isaacs made his recording debut in 1968 as Winston Sinclair with the single Another Heartache. He teamed up with two other vocalists, Penroe and Bramwell, for the short-lived trio The Concords who recorded for producers Rupie Edwards and Prince Buster.
In 1973 he and another young singer, Errol Dunkley, started the African Museum label and soon had a massive hit with My Only Lover.
His songs, including Love Is Overdue, Rumours and Hot Stepper, continue to dominate the airwaves.
In 2016 he was posthumously awarded the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) by the Jamaican Government for his contribution to the country's music.

Bounty Killer To Star In Jamaican Movie
Woman Quits Law School To Do God's Work - Poetic News Jamaica
Woman drops law school, saying she nah badda go ah school, She waan fe go do God’s work... her parents think it's not cool, they're saying she is brainwashed, but why would they be saying that? There is more to this story, me want unnu fe listen and tell me precisely if you think this is an insane act.
Give thanks for life, to God be the glory, welcome back to my channel, please subscribe and hit the notification bell as I continue with this story.
The decision by a budding lawyer to drop out of university and join a religious movement has left her parents in a state if bewilderment.
Deneel Grey, a 22-year-old female, recently earned her bachelor's degree in law and was only two years away from becoming a lawyer had she gone straight to law school.
Now this is the part where her family might be saying something wrong wid her brain, on September 29, the family house in which she resides inna one part of St. James, she broke the padlock on the grille to join the group, oh my! that was insane, There is a particular Ministry, which has a base in Portmore, St Catherine, from she teamed up with them, she's just not the same.
"I was led to it earlier this year and I was convicted by the Lord to stop school and to become a part of this ministry," Grey told members of the church congregation on Saturday, October 9th. However, her parents, Densil and Glynis Grey fear that their daughter may have been brainwashed.
"She became unruly and argumentative. She would look into space, isolate herself in her room, change her eating habits, her style of dressing, and began reading specific books," said her father.
Deneel 's parents said things never seem so right so dem tried desperately to find out what was happening inna dem daughter's life. They managed to confiscate her cellphone, discovering text messages that left them worried outta dem brain zone.
one of the messages reads... "Now that you are accepted to Country Land, we will be sending a drive to pick you up and take you there,"
According to the Greys, prior to Deneel finally leaving home, she began going out even during curfew hours, "Oh my gosh! She probably think she has some special powers." any way they took away her house key, saying they had feared for her safety.
"However, a few days later, after contemplation, we decided we will give her back the key because she isn't a prisoner, although I felt like it was a complete stranger live in yah," said Densil.
Mr. Lecky, one of the leaders of the ministry, during a Saturday's worship session, said Deneel called him earlier this year and "expressed her conviction and her decision not to continue to go to school".
"I expressed to her as well where I am. I am closing up medical school, I am not going to work in a hospital, I am going to do the work of the Lord," Lecky said.
Lecky said that Deneel feared breaking the news to her parents.
"Mom and Dad I want to thank you for taking care of me all these years but I am leaving school to do the Lord's work," she reportedly told her parents.
Deneel's departure has devastated her family. Her mother was recently hospitalized for a short period and her younger sister is so badly traumatized that plans are in place for her to get therapy. They desperately want Deneel to come back into their lives.
"We love you unconditionally and we would like to know where you are," Glynis said, in a message she hopes will reach her daughter.
"Our door is always open for you. If you want me to pick you up just call me. No one can love you like us."
"What wouldn't I have given for you? I gave you my all and I just pray you will come to your senses quickly before this is too late," she added.
A missing person's report was filed with the police. Lecky said that Deneel has been taken to the police to prove that she is not missing. However, checks with the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force a few days ago revealed that the 22-year-old is still missing.
As a parent myself, this is not something I could condone
Reading this story is like my mind blown, it's like Twilight Zone... keep praying my friends
for now, you can see It appears that she has no intentions of returning home.
"I want to make it clear to the entire world that I am here under my own conviction. I was not under any duress, I am an adult and this is where the Lord would have me to be and by His grace, this is where I am going to be," she said.
